Spirophyllum species
The picture above shows Spirophyllum cordatum, the Heartleaf Spiral. Each leaf is accompanied by an inflorescence, and the leaves are arranged in a single spiral. The stem also spirals as it grows in length.
Above is Spirophyllum pinnatum, the Windmill Spiral. This plant is a much larger, heavier specimen than S. cordatum and thus requires a stout support such as can be provided by plants in the genus Arodendron
The plant above is Spirophyllum lancifolium, the Lance Spiral. As can be seen in comparison to the other two species illustrated on this page, S. lancifolium is a heavier plant overall, even though in size it is smaller than S. pinnatum. The inflorescences are much showier than those on the other two species.
