Philodendron corcovadense
Philodendron corcovadense is an attractive, smaller growing meconostigma Philodendron that I first grew in the early 1980s. Some of my earlier Philodendron hybrids were done using this species. I found that the characteristics of this plant are quite dominant in hybrid progeny, as I've seen when crossing it with P. saxicola, P. bipinnatifidum and P. paludicola.
This plant has two drawbacks: one is that it has lanky stems with much longer internodes than are typical for most meconostigmas, and the petioles are very brittle, breaking off rather than flexing when bent suddenly. These are characteristics that I have already improved upon in my hybrid work with this plant.
