Alocasia odora
Alocasia odora has been the foundation of our Alocasia breeding program since the inception of Aroidia Research. We have found that this plant is durable, resistant to most pests, and blooms freely under our growing conditions. This was the female parent for the Alocasia x portora, Alocasia x novodora, and Alocasia x calidora, our first three major Alocasia crosses.
This plant is not common in the trade at all; we found ours almost by accident while looking for other plants.
Only in the recent past have we discovered that more than one variety of Alocasia odora is available, and we have acquired a few of these other types for use in future breeding. Two of these "new" ones are the "Blue Odora" and the "Indian Odora".
