Alocasia cuprea
Alocasia cuprea is one of the well known "jewel" Alocasia species that has been in collections for many years. More than one form of this plant exists; we have two of the forms in our research collection. The one pictured has wine-red inflorescences, while the other form has green inflorescences. The coloration on the pictured plant is much deeper than is found in the other form, but the other form holds many more leaves than this form does. Both have their idiosyncrasies as far as culture is concerned, and neither grows to be large as do plants like A. odora.
